5.0 out of five stars Great Wall Mount buy, July 23, 2008
By Joshua Schreiber “New to HD” (Salt Lake City, UT) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) This review is from: VideoSecu TV wall mount for 37″ 55″ LCD LED Plasma TV, full motion articulating 27″ Pullout swivel tilting Free seven ft HDMI cable W13 (Electronics) I have had the swivel mount for some weeks now and I am so happy I bought this model. It was an easy set up and does everything its supposed to. I was a little leary to put our 42″ 60lb tv on it up in the air, but once we got it all set up it was the best choice I’d made. I thinked of just purchasing an angled mount without the extension potential, but that could have been such a ache to get all the wiring hooked to and hidden behind the tv. With this set up we’re able to make easy cable modifications, and either pull the tv out, angle it more up or down and push it back to the wall to give it a more fit look. I strongly sugges buying this product and could purchase it again if I required to.

4.0 out of five stars Best counter for the price, October 11, 2008
By Scott “Dartagnan” (Summerville, SC) See all my reviews () This review is from: VideoSecu TV wall mount for 37″ 55″ LCD LED Plasma TV, full motion articulating 27″ Pullout swivel tilting Free seven ft HDMI cable W13 (Electronics) This is the best counter I could find for the price. If you want a counter with many of adjustability this is the one. I have a 46″ Vizio LCD TV mounted to it and it works great. Just a couple of things you may want to know. Be sure you tighten all bolts down at the time of assembly so that the mount doesn’t lean or sag. Also the information are awful. Really they’re practically none existant. If you aren’t mechanically inclined then this mount isn’t for you. I’m a mecahnical engineer who doesn’t typically read the information anyway so it wasn’t that bad. One thing I did learn the hard way is that when you mount it to the wall don’t install the front plate the TV mounts too till after you have it on the wall. Once the arm is on the wall then install the front plate and hang your TV on it. The bad information are the reason that I didn’t give it five stars.

4.0 out of five stars Does the job Great price, December 27, 2009
By Robert (Connecticut) See all my reviews () This review is from: VideoSecu TV wall mount for 37″ 55″ LCD LED Plasma TV, full motion articulating 27″ Pullout swivel tilting Free seven ft HDMI cable W13 (Electronics) After broad searches I settled on this one for it is 22″ (min 5″, max 27″) extension more than most of the others.
In my situation we do 95 of our looking at in a small den, and 5 of the time we have to turn the TV close
To 90 degress to open up to a bigger crowd in the living room. So I was not too worried about recurrent adjusments.
And I needed 22″ extension to be able to swivel a 47″ TV that far.

Despite many concerns after reading reviews, the item arrived assembled and information were clear.
All the mounting hardware was neatly packaged in plastic all separated by type. Included are a range of
Screws and spacers to let connecting the brackets to different TVs. Also will include four lag screws and washers for wall mount.
One review mentioned the TV could loosely slide once mounted not true if you tighten up the proper bolts.
Steps: 1) secure wall bracket/arms to wall, 2) secure TV brackets to TV, 3) hang TV, slide to change positior, and secure lower bolts.

Item ship weight is listed at 50# (one of the reasons I bought it); throughout shipment UPS tracking showed 21# (I was not too
Happy at that point), on arrival it weighed in at 33#. Certainly strong enough to hold up the 47″ LCD TV.

Other reviews about difficulty in to get horizontal are correct. With that in mind I was sure to level the
Screen bracket and attach the wall bracket therefore. Note that the level can differ based on which
Way you swing in the arm. As well, with everything level I then expanded the screen and turned it 90 degreees, and
It had a big tilt down. So I compensated more by put a 3/16 space strip across the bottom of the wall
Bracket. Then I adjusted the TV tilt knobs to go with. Note that many side to side tilt may be adjusted for
By setting the tilt knobs at different positions.

The arm shipped “tight” hard to move. All pivots have adjustable tightness and hex wrenches are provided,
But relaxing these will add to any tilt problems so you will want them pretty tight. I’m considering taking
Mine separately to lubricate them. The dual arm mounts I could expect don’t suffer as much from the leveling issues
As each arm could cancel out many of the slop of the other.

All in all, I’m happy with the product at it is $70 price (+$30 shipping), and now I see it’s under $50 plus shipping.
I built a custom cabinet (closet makeover) and built a “rear” wall about 8″ back to be the depth of the TV and
Minimum depth of the bracket. This gives me a flush TV when completely stowed. Make sure to back this wall with STUDS
For secure bracket mounting!

On a side note, the 47″ 120Hz Vizio has a great picture. Like looking through a window for many shows.
120Hz or higher with motion control is a must!! (we upgraded from an older 42″ 60Hz Vizio).

5.0 out of five stars Why you may want to purchase this TV, from a skeptic!, December 4, 2011
By Firedogee “firedogee” (Colorado Springs, CO) See all my reviews () This review is from: LG 42LV4400 42 Inch 1080p 120Hz LED LCD HDTV (Electronics) I’m value buyer who wants the most bang for my buck. I took a risk on this TV (after reading educated reviews like the one J. Finkel wrote. He did all the work for me.)

Here are (5) fast ways to turn this 3 star sub five hundred dollar TV into a 5 star one thousand dollar set.

1. Do not believe all the negative reviews. The picture on this set is amazing, but not right out of the box. It needs many adjusting. Refer to J. Finkel’s review for the exact settings. The picture is beautiful after ten minutes of tweaking.

2. The sound has no bass. Purchase a cheap PC subwoofer (under $20) and plug it into the analog line out. Then switch the line out volume to variable. Voila. I now have a great sound system. My wife said,”that is 100 better!” right after I plugged it in.

3. Sports on this TV is great. I watch many of NFL/NCAA football and the picture looks great. Just use the sports setting and if you have a good quality signal like HD cable or HD digital broadcast you’ll rarely notice any blurring. I considered a plasma to avoid blurring for sports, but this TV is more than adequate for all the benefits it has over plasma (LED lamps will last forever, bright high contrast no glare screen, and this set only weights 20 pounds)

4. Gaming on this tv is the best experience you could hope for. Just plugged in my XBOX360 and set it is output to 1080p to the TV. Never seen anything prettier than Skyrim, Madden 12, Halo Reach, Deadspace 2, and Dance Central. These games are gorgeous in 1080P and play with zero lag on the Game setting. PS. 120HZ TRUmotion isn’t used for GAME setting and it’s for the better.Just like all other TVs with this setting, it prevents lag from processing the signal so your movements on the controller are fast and responsive. No loss in quality of the picture without the 120HZ TRUmotion. That is only needed for looking at sports.

5. Smart TV? No. Amazing TV? YES
Before you purchase this TV you must know what you’re to get. It’s a 42″ LED edge lit LCD 1080P TV. It isn’t a smart TV and it isn’t full of bells and whistles. It’ll give you a bright, beautiful display with correct colors, lots of inputs, a 20 degree swivel base, a great looking at angle and sound that needs upgrading for movies/gaming. It’ll not give you the capability to tweak black levels, but there are lots of ways to work around that. Just read the other educated reviews. Just like a good marriage, it takes work but rewards far surpass cost. If I want a smart TV I can just plug in my internet connected XBOX 360 (or PS3), laptop, or just purchase a Roku player for under a hundred bucks. No sense paying another $300 dollars for the “SMART” label.

6. A bonus tip.If all else fails and the screen just does not look entitlement to you.Turn OFF the ENERGY SAVING MODE! So many reviewers leave that on and never get to see what the set can do in full backlighting.

Bottom Line:
Great Value, Great Picture. This is an excellent no frills LED HDTV for the price. You will not be disappointed if you are aware of what you’re to get with this TV.For better or worse. Have any questions? Feel free to ask.

4.0 out of five stars Excellent Few Frills TV, November 3, 2011
By J. Finkel “Jack of Trades” (Hoboken, NJ) See all my reviews
(VINE VOICE) (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME) This review is from: LG 42LV4400 42 Inch 1080p 120Hz LED LCD HDTV (Electronics)
Buyer review from the Vine™ Program () The LG 42LV4400 LED HDTV performs well in general, but lacks many vital features you may see in competing televisions.

==Menu==
The menu is the same one LG was using for some years now. Pushing the “home” button brings up selections for changing picture/audio/parental/time/channel settings etc. These sub menus are easy to navigate thanks to pictures and big text. While the organization of the menus are great, the breadth of the alternatives available is disappointing.

==Picture==
The picture on most LCD’s is rather good these days. The 42LV4400 ranks right up there with any mid range HDTV. The blacks may be much better, but with many good tweaking in the regular menu settings, you may be able to accomplish pretty decent color accuracy and ‘pop’ (the feeling of depth and realism). As with most LCD’s, the light is more than abundant, making it a good TV for any room. It also has a matte finish, which makes it hard to see reflections.

==Aesthetics==
The bezel of the TV is 1″ on top and sides but nearly 3″ on the bottom. The bezel and stand are a high gloss black with simple contours and somewhat rounded edges. In general, it seems plain but also attractively understated. It could be a good choice for a professional environment also as a home.

==Build==
The LG 42LV4400 is pretty light, making it simple to setup by oneself. The stand looks tough enough, but a bit more weight could have been encouraging. The stand does not offer any tilt and does not swivel too well. The inputs are.Streamlined: there’s one part input and no composite inputs besides; no dvi. The three HDMI inputs are plentiful though and the USB port is a good addition. The buttons on the TV aren’t in the most convenient place, being recessed on the side by 2.5″. The buttons feel cheap, but are responsive. Majority of people will use the remote nevertheless which is more of the same. The remote feels cheap also, but looks okay and works good. Since there are not a ton of features on this TV, the remote is simple enough. There’s no ethernet nor wi fi.

==Motion Handling==
One choice I generally look for now is smoothing out motion (sometimes separated into blur and judder). Most LCD’s have issues producing clear, smooth, flowing video of motion. This is a big drawback and plasma, which doesn’t suffer the same problem. The refresh rates (120Hz or 240Hz instead of 60Hz) were used to change the way your eyes see the motion on the TV. In the best TV sets, the video is processed so that there’s no stuttering and also no “Soap Opera Effect,” a problem presented when there’s too much processing that can make any video look unnaturally smooth as the processing tries to correct the normal variations in speed that us living things tend to do so much when we move about. Unfortunately, with the 42LV4400, you have nearly no control over the motion handling, on the side from selecting a picture mode (Cinema, Game, Sport, etc). In Game mode, the motion handling is turned off to decrease input lag. In Sport mode, it’s turned all the way up, so you may be able to see a football gliding from the quarterback to receiver without too much choppiness.

==Calibration==
If you plan to calibrate this TV yourself, you will be sorely disappointed. My older 42LH90 has settings for 10 point IRE gray scale and color/tint settings for main and secondary colors. Such features as those may only interest videophiles with a spectrometer at their disposal, but the 42LV4400 totally lacks the capability to change the gray scale. Most other TV’s I have find in the last not many years at least have a 2 point IRE gray scale modification. I assume more calibration settings are available in the service menu, but I have not found how to access that, in spite of reading through the manual on the included CD.

==Other Features==
The picture menu lacks many vital settings, but does let you create a pretty substantial picture in general. See the end of the review for my settings (though every panel is different). Parental controls are well laid out. The Game mode looks to work well enough to play FPS, though a game like Rock Band may still need many modification in game. Sound is okay, but I’d recommend using external speakers with any TV. Unfortunately, the USB access will only let you view pictures. You can not view movies or listen to music from the USB port like you may be able to on many other LG models. As well, I did run into a peculiar issue where this TV failed to input any signal from my DVDO video filter. Both functioned usually when paired with other devices.

==Conclusion==
The 42LV4400 lacks the features needed to be considered a high end TV, but it’s able of producing an excellent picture that will rival any mid range TV. I’d recommend this model to anybody trying to get the best picture for the least total of money. It could best fit a buyer who usually does not annoy adjusting the settings on their TV and is not bothered by the way many LCD’s badly handle motion. It could also be a great fit for professional settings, like a conference room or waiting area.

UPDATE: I just calculated the input lag of this TV in comparison to my HP ZR24w (S IPS LCD, not CRT) computer monitor and using game mode. The LV4400 averaged about 10 15ms behind. In the other modes it crept up to around 30 40ms. These results are good and probably reflect the average use of video processing.

UPDATE (11/28): I newly added a close up of the pixels in what seems a “>>>” form. This indicates that my LG 42LV4400 is an IPS panel. The looking at angles are good as could be common of an IPS. The prime looking at angle looks to be +/ 30 from center (side to side) with only minor loss of contrast up to +/ 45 and subtle degradation at wider angles.

UPDATE for calibration enthusiasts:
Notes on calibration from color spectrometer readings with HFCR and EyeOne Display2: The Game mode made the flattest gamma but all were about 2.1 on average with the other modes spiking up high towards the 90 and 100 on grayscale. The grayscale was good with theater mode producing usually 5 6 and in Standard mode 6 8. Game mode the grayscale error suffered, pushing up to ten on many readings. The theater mode had a wildly off Blue result of 50, but otherwise the main and secondary colors were on the 10 20 delta E range. I was able to push the contrast to Y=200 at 100 and Y=0.1 at 0 without much trouble. My calibrated settings were around Y=100 at 100 and Y=0.2 0.4 at 0. I was unable to access the service menu; Pronto access codes for Harmony remote didn’t work, though they did function on my LG 42LH90.

3.0 out of five stars Good Picture Quality, A Basic Feature Set, Poor Quality Control, November 9, 2011
By Anthony Pantliano “The Photo Guy” (New York State) See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME) This review is from: LG 42LV4400 42 Inch 1080p 120Hz LED LCD HDTV (Electronics)
Buyer review from the Vine™ Program () The LG LED LCD TV is a pretty basic set with good picture quality, but many unfortunate quality control problems.

The LG is simple looking in its design. It has a piano black bezel and a swiveling base that’s also done in piano black. There’s a small part of opaque gray plastic trim that runs along the bottom and a discreet LG logo on the TV. On the bottom of the set are the stereo speakers. The set is thin and is about 1.75″ at its thickest part, not as well as the base. The set is light in weight and easy to move for one person. Construction quality and materials are good, but the swivel base lets the TV to move some degrees in either direction easily. I find this quite annoying as the swivel base on my two Panasonic flat screen TVs dont have play at all.

The only assembly obliged is to attach the swivel stand, if wanted, and that was a simple procedure that I was able to do myself and took no more than five minutes.

On the left hand side of the set from the front, hidden behind the bezel, are the Power, Menu, Input, Channel and Volume buttons with one USB port and two HDMI ports. One the back left hand side of the set are one RGB PC, one Composite or part (it’s either used for one or the other, not both), one digital and one analog audio out, one RF cable and one HDMI port.

Using the set is simple. The on screen menu system and the remote are both easy to use. Feature wise the set offers and not many different picture presets (with individual setting saved for each input), a sleep and schedule timer, closed captioning and the capability to view photos on a USB jump drive. A characteristic I really like is the capability to turn off the screen but still hear the audio, which is nice if you like to fall asleep to the sound of the TV, but the screen’s light bothers you. The set doesn’t have 3 D capability, nor does it can access any streaming web services like Pandora, Netflix, or Video On Demand. As well, there’s only a basic printed owner’s manual included with the TV. If you want the in depth manual you must view the PDF on the included CD.

Picture quality is the highlight of this reasonably priced LED set and indeed the high meaning picture is sharp and clear with nice color, smooth motion, and in depth bright scenes (I get my HD picture by hooking the TV straight to my cable using the RF jack). The SD picture looks good also, but it’s many softer than the HD picture, as projected. Where picture quality falters, but, is in the shadows and throughout black scenes. In comparison to my 50″ 3 D Panasonic plasma the darker sections of the LG’s picture lack contrast and detail. Watching high meaning TV I was able to compare the picture on the two sets directly. In one scene where the actor standed in front of a black wall with a floral pattern in a somewhat lighter shade of black I was able to easily make out the pattern on the Panasonic Plasma, but on the LG LCD the wall was a hard black. For an LCD TV the picture is great, but for true videophiles a high end plasma set is a better bet. For reference I have the picture settings on the LG set as follows; Backlight: 90, Contrast: 85, Brightness: 48, Sharpness: 35, Color: 40, Tint: R4, Color Temperature: Medium, Gamma: Medium, and the other modifications set to off.

Another area where the LG disappoints is in its looking at angle. If you sit directly in front of the TV it has great contrast and saturation, but when you start to move a couple of feet off center the contrast and saturation drop considerably and the picture starts to wash out. The effect is more dramatic the closer you’re to the TV, since your looking at angles are more acute. In comparison to my plasma, and to an older Panasonic 32″ LCD, the LG has a narrow looking at angle. I’ll admit that the LG is much better than a 26″ Sharp LCD I used to have in this regard. Still, if your looking at area is arranged in such a manner that people will be at an extreme angle from the front of the set, you may want to look into a plasma, or an LCD with a wider looking at angle.

Sound quality is good, with lots of volume to fill a room, but to get the true big screen experience you will want to hook the set up to a surround sound system.

The last, and most vital thing I want to talk about about the LG is that there are two small specks of plastic stuck behind the screen. They’re both black plastic triangular shaped slivers. One is about the size of a pixel and barely obvious, and the other is about three pixels long, and depending how close you’re to the TV, may be picked out without too much trouble. They’re a manufacturing defect and can not be removed without ruining the screen. The specks are not enough to ruin the looking at experience, but they do speak a bit to a lack of quality control on LG’s part. I’ll but, that the screen has no dead pixels. (You can see the photo I uploaded for more information) 11/27/2011 Update: The bigger speck has fallen down the screen and is on the edge, so it is better but it is still there.

All in all. A no frills set with good LCD picture quality, but a lack of quality control.

11/16/2011 Update: One thing I forgot to talk about is that the screen is matte and not glossy. That makes this set an excellent choice for a room that has lots of windows because the screen doesn’t have any glare issues.

12/14/2011 Update: If you input the TV into an outlet or surge protector that cuts all power to the TV when it is not on the clock will reset itself, so be sure you set the clock again (either manually or using the auto setting) if you are using the automatic on schedule function. In my case, I be sure I turn the TV on for some minutes before I go to bed so that the clock will set automatically and the TV will turn on in the morning.

P.S. Feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions and I’ll answer then as quickly as possible.

5.0 out of five stars FANTASTIC seven inch movable LCD TV !,
September 15, 2008

TOP 500 REVIEWER&nbsp,&nbsp,VINE VOICE&nbsp,&nbsp, Verified PurchaseWhat’s this? This review is from: Haier HLT71 7 Inch Handheld LCD TV Electronics I’m really thrilled with my buy of this Haier HLT71 7 inch, ATSC 2009 ready movable LCD TV! I have never heard of this name brand Haier, and I had heard many nightmare stories about many of the other name brands having poor pictures on these little screens, so I thought I’d give this Haier a attempt.

I ordered this tv directly from and it came to me from a seller on who goes by the name ANTOnline. The seller sent this perfect and fast to start with, which is generally a big plus with me. When I opened the box, the set looked sleek and light weight, just perfect! The tv I received is exactly like the picture shows in this description, black it is the picture that has the remote control beside the tv, with really simple control buttons on the front. I then looked at the directions, but realized, I did not have to read them at all! Everything is really obvious! The set has a little slide switch on the side to turn on the power. The antenna screws in really easy. It comes with a plug for the inside electrical outlet, and a plug for the car lighter, and a lightweight rechargeable battery! It has a little remote control which they made easy to read! After screwing on the antenna or you may be able to attach your cable cord if you’re using it in the house, I just plugged it in, slid the power switch on, pressed the button to scan for setting the channels, and it does it quickly! In about one minute, it was set! I then tried the small battery, and it played perfectly without the electric power!

The picture is totally gorgeous, as it has the new atsc digital signal receiver built in! To see the local programs in digital on this little screen was fantastic! Colors are crisp, sharp and vivid, just like a big hdtv!

I noticed that many reviews are giving this tv a low ranking because it didn’t pick up any channels with the single rabbit ear that comes with the set. This tv picks up EVERY signal that’s being broadcast in your area. Before you purchase this tv, you may want to 1st go to a web site called Antenna Web. On this site, you type in your address and it’ll show you exactly how many channels you may be able to get in your area and what kind of antenna you’ll have to pick up the signals. Antenna Web said that in my area I could get eight signals, and the single rabbit ear that comes with this tv picked up all eight channels. When I used a stronger antenna, I picked up three more channels. When I used my cable cord, I received over 60 channels, and when I used my cable cord with my box, I picked up 250 channels.

Whatever I hooked up to the coaxial input on this tv, this tv picked up! If you live in an area that receives no broadcast signals or you need a high powered antenna to pick up anything, it isn’t the tv’s fault, but your broadcasters. If you want to be sure your tv is picking up the signals properly, go to Antenna Web and check to see what channels you may be able to get in your area and what kind of antenna you have to pick up the signals. My single rabbit ear, picked up everything as well as the hi def channels, and the reception was very clear. Also, do not forget to go to the tv’s menu, and hit the little satellite dish picture, then hit the proper air or cable before you scan for your channels. This way you will be sure your tv will get the correct signals.

The real plus for me on this tv, is the battery, because of so many electrical outages and bad storms, this is a must have item! The battery has a life of about 2 2 1/2 hours, perfect for some shows while waiting out bad weather, or for entertainment when traveling. The great picture really blew me away. I just love the light weight of the tv, with the battery, it is like a feather! there’s a fitted stand to put it on a table! The sound is unbelievable as well two speakers and really loud! This is unheard of on these small sets! They thought of as well as a plug in for headphones, if you have them headphones aren’t included, for calm listening or for travel! Whoever intended this perfect set, knew what they doed!

I am giving this perfect little tv five stars for being able to see a sharp, vivid, gorgeously colored hi def picture, and set up without reading a direction, but particularly because I can play it in my house, in my car, or carry it anywhere with the rechargeable battery, all at a great price too!

UPDATE: Haier and Axion seven inch movable tv’s
I am posting an update for anybody who is wondering what the differences are between these two movable tv’s. A friend of mine bought the Axion, and she now brought it over to compare it to my Haier. Here is what I found:
RECEPTION: Antenna Web said I could get eight channels in my area. With the single rabbit ear antenna, Haier picked up all eight channels. Axion picked up seven channels, but one channel was fuzzy. When attaching a cable cord, both sets picked up everything.
SOUND: For these small sets, the sounds were alike, but when turning the volume louder, the Haier was louder and not as tinny sounding as the Axion.
PICTURE: Both have nice pictures, with great color, but the Haier certainly has a more hi def, sharper looking picture.
REMOTE CONTROL: Haier’s is simpler to read, bigger and has volume control, where Axion’s is smaller and has no volume control.
BATTERY: Haier’s battery is a plug in and lasts about two hours before needing charging. Axion’s battery is fitted, can not be removed and lasted a little less than one hour before needing to be charged.

Overall, the sets are alike, my personal choice being the Haier, as I think the picture is sharper, the price is better and the battery lasts longer for my needs in bad weather. Haier also has way more picture settings and modifications in the tv’s menu, but the pictures on both these sets are so great, I have never found a have to use them. The bottom line for me is the better picture and price give the edge to Haier, since the reception on these two sets is nearly same.

UPDATE: MISSING OR NO CHANNELS AFTER DIGITAL CHANGE
This is an update for anybody who has lost channels or who has no channels after the digital change happened June 12, 2009, if you re scanned or not. I received this info to share with all of you from contacting the FCC, CBS, Antenna Web and Elgato Systems Technical Support.

They were all useful in explaining to me what exactly is going on now, which is this: Half of the nations tv stations which at half is 1,760 stations are running at full power, the other half of 1,760 stations aren’t. Many stations are totally off the air temporarily, and are available only through cable and satellite. In most big markets many channels are in lower frequencies which many smaller antennas will NEVER pick up except MAYBE with the highest powered amplified antenna. Digital tv was first planned to be broadcast in UHF digital loop antenna needed, which are the higher channels. VHF rabbit ears, which are the lower analog channels 2 13 has been supposed to be gone, but it isn’t. The new digital tv is being broadcast in two different ranges both UHF and VHF.

In other words, channels are missing, many channels are in frequencies we can not pick up and only half of our stations are running at full power! What a mess! Antenna Web is showing the new RF Radio Frequency channels in your area. Each station has one RF channel. If you see in your area, any low RF channels from 1 13 range, you’ll need a really high powered antenna to MAYBE get your channels.

First, go to your tv to re scan. Remove any batteries. Plug it in to the wall outlet. Find the satellite dish in your menu and set it to air if using antenna or cable if cable is hooked upand scan. You may have to do this some number of times and more re scans are needed over the next year or two!

The FCC recommends, if you’re to get nothing, or not many channels, to do the following, before re scanning:
1. Re orient the antenna
2. Amplify the antenna Not suggested by me, as these antenna’s need electricity, which means it’ll be useless when used with the battery
3. Buy a new HD antenna that will get both VHF and UHF

When you purchase an hd antenna for your set, attempt re scanning it when you get home some times to see what you get, if nothing works, return it and attempt another. After re scanning, be sure you attempt the tv with your battery to see what you may be able to pick up for power outages. Sooner or later one will work for your area and you will be set for the next power outage.

With only 1/2 the stations at full power, many channels temporarily missing that went to cable and dish tv, and many running on low analog frequencies, it is amazing our antenna sets are picking up anything right now! Shop till you get a good antenna for your area, and be patient as it’ll be years before everything is being broadcast in higher frequency digital tv! I hope this helps everyone, as the right antenna is everything right now!

UPDATE: MORE HAIER BATTERIES ARE HERE! September 26, 2009
I am so happy that Haier has made more batteries available to buy here on Amazon! Just type in Haier Battery and you will see many sellers have them advertised and the prices are competitive, starting at $24.00 plus shipping. I received mine quickly, tested it and we got a little over four hours of TV with two batteries, which will be great when we need a movable for the next power outage!Without power, I recharged them in my car.I’ve had my tv for two years now, and it is still like new, so paying for another battery is certainly worth it!

3.0 out of five stars Decent movable for the price,
November 14, 2008
By&nbsp,Grider “Just Horses” Missouri See all my reviews Verified PurchaseWhat’s this? This review is from: Haier HLT71 7 Inch Handheld LCD TV Electronics My old little movable TV used for emergencies “expired” in February 2009 so I ordered one of these because they’re set up for the new digital transmits. The 1st one I received did not pick up any channels and had no sound. I figured it had to be a damaged unit, so returned it to for a substitute and the second one is working good. Picks up most of my local channels Some with amazing clearness and others fuzzy, but I live out in the country, so I am okay with that since it is really just for emergencies. I am amazed at the technology, seeing such a sharp, full color picture on that little screen. I have read from other reviews that the battery lasts about two hours, but hopefully that’ll get us thru a storm. Comes with AC cord, removable antenna, triple video input cable, car plug in, remote control including batteries and rechargable interior battery. Note, interior battery MUST be installed before it’ll come on. It is got one of those tiny plug ins like cordless phones, so be sure it is connected. In general, I could recommend it.

5.0 out of five stars Best movable Digital tuner TV,
September 30, 2008
By&nbsp,M. Garcia Macon, Georgia USA See all my reviews
REAL NAME&nbsp,&nbsp, This review is from: Haier HLT71 7 Inch Handheld LCD TV Electronics Great little TV. The item I received differed from the one pictured, it has been rubberized black and had better controls. I comes with a removable battery pack, 12v and AC adapters and a stick antenna.

We use it for keeping up with college football games while watching our daughters travel softball team.

The TV decodes everything. ATSC over the air digital TV, NTSC analog TV, regular cable TV AND non encrypted QAM cable TV that was a big plus for me.

I tried a Radio Shack 7″ that looks many like the picture of the Haier above, but this TV is MUCH MUCH better. The antennas with the TV’s are crap, get the silver sensor sold on and you’ll be amazed the channels you may be able to pull in with this TV.

Good Luck.
