4.0 out of five stars Sanus MF215 B1, February 10, 2009
By Papa "Bob" (Illinois, USA) See all my reviews This review is from: Sanus Systems MF215 B1 15 Inch to 37 Inch LCD TV 15 Inch Extending Full Motion Wall Mount (Black) (Electronics) I looked for a mount for a 32 inch Westinghouse LCD TV high up on a wall in our bedroom. One major concern I had was I wanted a mount that could let me to mount directly into a stud for maximum support. Because this unit has just two mounting holes one above the other this worked out great. Other units have four mounting holes so the screws could have been on either side of the stud into the plaster wall or two in the stud and two into the plaster, not quite as ideal. This unit came with easy information, big size lag bolts for mounting to the wall and is constructed, etc. Took only an hour to mount. The unit has one disadvantage, that’s the gimble (rounded mount for tilting) on the back of the mounting plate. It had a hard time behind this big of a TV and is pushing the maximum bound on size and weight as the gimble screw had to be tightened tight to keep the TV from tipping down all the time. I didn’t plan to move the TV once mounted so I was able to really tighten up this screw but at the time I was affaid I could strip the screw or crack the mount but so far no problem. If you’re considering moving the TV once mounted and it’s big like the one I mounted then I could propose a differnt unit as it’ll keep tipping down. I could recommend purchasing this mount but watch the TV size and weight.

4.0 out of five stars doesn’t stay level?, May 5, 2009
By R. Jarvis (Virginia) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) This review is from: Sanus Systems MF215 B1 15 Inch to 37 Inch LCD TV 15 Inch Extending Full Motion Wall Mount (Black) (Electronics) Installed with a Sharp Aquos 32″ with fitted Blu ray player (about 30lbs total weight). Unfortunately the LCD tilts/slightly rotates to the right, the heavier side of the LCD caused by the Blu ray player’s somewhat extra weight on the right side. The set screw/bolt is intended to hold the LCD at some rotational position. The set screw/bolt doesn’t produce enough compression or friction to overcome the extra weight of the Blu ray and hold the LCD at a zero degree position. I am considering adding extra weight to better balance the weight distribution. Otherwise, the in general device installed with minor effort. Significant torque at completely expanded position. Must be mounted to a stud or concrete wall for adequate anchoring. I could have concerns with a heavier TV over time. I researched dozens of mounting devices before buying this device. I have particular dozens of wall mount devices for much heavier monitors over the past not many years, and this company makes many of the better mounts for the price level.

5.0 out of five stars Everything they say this is, April 18, 2009
By buyer Husband (Northern California) See all my reviews This review is from: Sanus Systems MF215 B1 15 Inch to 37 Inch LCD TV 15 Inch Extending Full Motion Wall Mount (Black) (Electronics) This wall mount is excellent. We only mounted a 19″ LCD on it so i can not speak to how it could work with a bigger TV. But it’s rock hard, locks into place in various positions, folds up against the wall for a small footprint, and has full range of motion for tilting the TV or looking at it from different angles. It was easy to install though the information may be better. The price at was half of the price at Best purchase, so we felt like it was a pretty good deal.

5.0 out of five stars Auto Motion Plus the price disparity, May 18, 2011
By K. Singhasiri (USA) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) () This review is from: Samsung UN32D6000 32 Inch 1080p 120Hz LED HDTV (Black) (Electronics) After owning this TV for exactly a month I have decided to write a review, you know, after the excitement wears off and what not. Really I am still pretty excited about it. My last set was a Samsung 26″ LCD and upgrading to this one was useful.

Since this is a TV, I will comment about the picture 1st. Out of the box it is good, after adjusting the settings a bit excellent. The colors are vibrant and no problems with looking at angles. I really like my pictures to have some contrast to them; I favor black to be black and not grey. At 1st I haved a hard time trying to get it right, since my initial reaction was to decrease backlight and gamma, but turn on contrast and light. After a while, I figured out ‘brightness’ had the biggest effect. Around 30 was where it really kicks in, but it did not happen to me to drop it that low. It is all about preference though, and this TV should have enough settings for anybody. On the side from contrast though, I do not see an crazy total of difference between this and a non LED set. Something I must talk about about the settings though, based on which of the four picture presets you are on, certain selections like advanced video settings become unselectable for reasons not recognized. Though I pretty much left that setting untouched. In spite of that, I really like the fact that settings are saved independently across the four presets for EACH input source. As an example, if you have four connections coming in, you may be able to have a total of 16 presets good stuff. I also tried the PC input through vga and found the picture to be sharp. Colors are correct though a bit strong and text is easily readable from some feet out and this is coming from a practically blind gamer. The audio, I found to be pretty good. The bass is not going to blow your neighbors away, and it is not going to replace any home theater system, but there’s a able, customizable equalizer on board which will help a bit. Volume for this set was not a problem for me.

Now I must talk about the 120Hz Auto Motion Plus(AMP) dealy as it looks to be the major feature that drives up the cost from lower models. What AMP does for you is, well, readable in the product description, so I will describe it. AMP made every thing move faster while maintaining picture detail. (more frames in the same total of time = faster) to me, everything looked like either home movies or daytime soaps which, if you may be able to picture them, tend to move faster than most TV programs and movies. In spite of the bit about daytime soaps, I usually watch movies and sports, and after some dozen years of watching them in 24 frames per second (a bit higher for sports), I found the added (double?) frames to seem unnatural. After some days found myself turning the feature off totally for sports. Though there is nothing wrong with the quality of the image presented per se, I’d just favor to see a blue flash go by as opposed to Ironman’s real chest part go by, as an example. And it only really kicks in at what looks like certain intervals, so the inconsistency in framerate got to me also. I did find a use for AMP while gaming. Everything moves at what looks like 60 fps when the game isn’t natively recognized to. Though, again, it is not 100 consistent in high frames (more like 60 80) and certain, fast moving, games, like racing, cause what looks like screen tearing at the edges. You most likely will not notice it (AMP) on games that already run at 60fps, and also it will not work miracles for games with already poor and discrepant framerates. In general, it seems great for games, as I did not give it a second thought about leaving it on, but for everything else I decided not to.

The major selling point for me was the Connectshare. I thinked of buying a digital media player a while back, but here it is already fitted and it is a able one indeed. Though, there is too many to list here, the TV’s e manual really lists suppurt for a dozen file types spanning some number of dozen video and audio codecs with bitrates as high as 30 Mbps for certain file types. It is played pretty much every thing I have thrown at it and handled any ‘usb device’ I have used so far, which will include NTFS formatted sata hard drives with external enclosure, no worries. Though once in a while the audio cuts in and out on my .Vob straight rips, and I have still to test files with high bitrates since I feel the tradeoff for file size is not worth it past 7 8 Mbps. Something I must talk about about the media player is it does an admirable job of decreasing video artifacting from down conversion, but you are not able to zoom past the real video while maintaining part percentage. In other words it will not crop the black horizontal bars for you on a 4:3 percentage video. You must do it in the conversion. I found it weird since the choice to zoom in is there for the other video inputs.

As for the Smart TV/Samsung App hub, I tried it shortly using the Youtube app under a wired connection(which stalled on the initial install). Videos streamed quickly and it looked like the the app generally plays the highest video quality. Most of the other apps never appealed to me so I found myself quickly deleting them off the TV but this was never a selling point for me nevertheless just something to mess around with. As others mentioned, navigating without a keyboard quickly became a chore. Hopefully, someplace along the line, Samsung will individually sell their qwerty remote that is included with their 7000 and up series of TVs otherwise this feature could fade fast.

After all that though, I could certainly buy this TV again if I had to (which I did the 40″ UN40D6000 series) particularly at the $700 price tag offered at the time (thanks to the wacky goods exchange like fluctuating price system here). Though the LED part looks to do more for your eco concerns than picture quality and I seldom use the 120Hz Auto motion, I’d rather have more functionality than less. As well, I can pay for it. But, for the informal viewer, those on a budget, or old school movie goer, 120Hz is overkill. I could go with the UN32D5500 32 Inch and still be happy. As generally, see it for yourself.

5.0 out of five stars Excellent Quality, very working, and Amazing Stylish HDTV, June 22, 2011
By Kyler Christensen (Kent, WA) See all my reviews
(REAL NAME) () This review is from: Samsung UN40D6000 40 Inch 1080p 120Hz LED HDTV, Black (Electronics) Whoah, I really did my research on this one (I generally do when I make big investments into things that I plan on owning for a long time) and I’m not disappointed!!! For those that do not know, LED TVs are arguably considered the best class of HDTVs (including LCD and plasma with all of their variants) and this specific model I feel is really the best in its class (considering all things: quality of picture, pricing, features, and, in my humble opinion, size I really did not need anything bigger than about 40 something inches for my purposes).

I’m going to go on a small side note: many will argue that plasma has the best picture. But, LEDs have better picture at same resolutions. I checked this model out on the floor at Best purchase with two other (42″) TVs that I compared, an LG LCD and a Panasonic plasma. The sales relate swore by plasma and could not tell the evident difference in contrast between the 42″ and this model (the LED one was clearly better). I am not going to patronize you on the pros and cons of each class of TV (although I could) but, all things considered, LED really is the best in general. Do your homework if you have not.

Anyways, I noticed that many people whined about: 1) the sound, 2) the remote, 3) screen glare, 4) light leakage, or 5) whatever dud/lemon of a TV they got. I am going to deal with these points with rebuttals in the following bullet points:

1) In truth the sound is decent (you’re purchasing a stand alone HDTV, what did you expect?) and majority of people may want to buy a sound bar/system down the road. Plus there are many sound alternatives that improve and separate individual parts of the sound that matter to you (“Clear Voice” is a good one sometimes).

2) Hey, it is a REMOTE! Come on, people! Seriously though, the remote is intuitive enough and has many cool features (the menus are simple and a delight to navigate once you get the hang of everything), like button back lighting that you may toggle on and off with one glow in the dark button. Plus the buttons have a good feel and good travel to them.

3) Unless you keep the windows open and they are facing the TV, this isn’t really a big issue at all particularly when the TV is really ON!

4) here is where I think that I’ll acknowledge many peoples’ pouting and concern; on the upper and lower right and left corner portions of the screen, and upper center (where the light is sourced from), I did notice many faint round light leakage/blooming spots when watching a movie at night. It’s minor but they’re there. But, this is only noticed when the following conditions are met: you are watching in a super widescreen letterbox format picture, it is night time or the house lights are off, and the movie scene is a really black one. I am not certain if this is normal of LEDs or not. Either way, it’s minor, can be ignored, and is certainly not worth taking my TV back for. I am already too happy with it as you may guess.

5) Mine arrived in perfect condition. I recommend a free trial of Prime. You may be able to get this TV with free standard shipping rates or $4 for overnight shipping in the continental US.

One last initial worry of mine that I wanted to put into this review is about the bezel/frame style. The outer edge is enclosed with an extra clear edge that holds an smaller and very subtle clear red edge. Aesthetics are an vital thing for me so looking at this model in the store was a MUST. But, the red edge with the clear edge was virtually unnoticeable in the store. When you do look carefully and see it you’ll notice how stylish it all really is. The frame is super thin, black gloss, and sits on a mostly glass base. The shaft of the base mount is clear glass so the TV kind of looks like it is floating. I think that that was what the designers goed for.

Now on to many of the features that last reviewers did not touch on. This TV has really got you covered. There are a mass of sound and video alternatives in a intuitive menu interface. I have not utilized any of the Internet accessing alternatives still. My major plan was to hook my laptop up to the HDMI port and do many with that. But here is where the TV really shines for me: the HDD USB port. If you have a USB flash drive/external hard drive then you may be able to view photos, play music, and watch movies straight off of it. Playing movies has no slow down whatsoever. If you somehow get Blu ray disc movie rips or whatever video file type/extension you have, chances are great that it’ll play them all with no problem. The TV played nearly every movie file type that I have thrown at it. I love the simplified menu inside the videos. You can not ask for anything better in this part. And HD videos all look glorious.

Lastly, many people complain about the “soap opera” effect that HDTVs can suffer from. I believe other brands on occasion call this feature “Trumotion”, but for this line of TVs Samsung mentions it as “Auto Motion Plus”. Thankfully, you have the choice to turn this feature off if you’d want or change it to one of five other settings.

Well, I am not sure what else to say.. I did not need or want a 3D TV still. But everyone that has come over to our place sees the screen resolution and picture quality and is generally now impressed. I greatly recommend this TV to anybody. At 40 inches, do yourself a favor and get it for the picture quality and unbeatable price for an LED class TV.

EDIT: The one other draw for LED HDTVs is the very small off chance for “burn in” if you view the same picture constantly without a change in picture. The manual warns something along the lines of being sure not to view the same picture for more than 5 of your total looking at time in any given week. Otherwise, it is a small chance (but possible) that you could get burn in on your TV.

(Update as of 6/27/11): The picture quality has generally been utterly exceptional and without comparison for this TV. But, I have a keen eye and will still at times notice the light leaking issue throughout EXTRA widescreen videos where the light is on the top and bottom borders and is darkest. I think that I’m going to continue hanging on to this TV, but, notwithstanding this one issue though I’m now weighing the matter as it compares to the price and timing for this investment for me now. If I do contact Samsung, I could only want this same model again. Videophiles may just want to keep this light leakage issue in mind for their buy.

By Product Reviewer See all my reviews () This review is from: Samsung UN46D6000 46 Inch 1080p 120Hz LED HDTV (Black) (Electronics) The Samsung UN46D6000 is an excellent led HDTV set that’s the best value priced alternative to a 3D model. In fact, the remaining picture clearness and color of this LED set nearly looks 3D at times and they are its most striking features. Other pluses are the light weight, thin profile and elegant in general design with low power handling. Though, I could propose that individual sound control features for bass, treble and balance could be a certain improvement.
